DoD and Partner Agencies

In 2001, through the National Defense Authorization Act, Congress expanded CAP's authority and responsibility, making us the government's centralized program to provide assistive technology and services free of charge to Federal agencies.

CAP has the authority to "provide assistive technology, devices, and services to any department or agency in the Federal government upon the request of the head of the agency".

CAP also assists Federal agencies in complying with Sections 501, 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.
